About Me

I am a Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics at Virginia Tech.  Prior to that, I was an International Economist in the Applied Economics Division at the US International Trade Commission.  In May 2006 I received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia.  I also hold a B.A. in Economics from Oberlin College, and an M.A. in Economics from UVA.  I have worked for both the Urban Institute, a non-profit social research policy center in Washington D.C., and LECG, an international economic consulting firm.  My economic interests include Applied Micro, Industrial Organization, Public Economics, International Trade, and Institutional Economics.  In my spare time I enjoy Chinese martial arts (Kung Fu, Qi Gong, Tai Chi), hiking, camping, and playing guitar and bass.

I live in Blacksburg, VA with my wife, Erika, and son, Oz.  Erika and I are both working at Virginia Tech--Erika as an Assistant Professor of creative writing.  Oz is continuing his research in quantum mechanics and string theory with the help of an NSF grant.  He also really likes his new slide.
