About Me

I am an Instructor of Economics and the Principles of Economics Coordinator at Virginia Tech where I teach nearly 2,000 students per year.  Prior to that, I was an International Economist in the Applied Economics Division at the US International Trade Commission.  In May 2006 I received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia.  I also hold a B.A. in Economics from Oberlin College, and an M.A. in Economics from UVA.  I have worked for both the Urban Institute, a non-profit social research policy center in Washington D.C., and LECG, an international economic consulting firm.  My economic interests include Applied Micro, Industrial Organization, Public Economics, International Trade, and Institutional Economics.  In my spare time I enjoy Chinese martial arts (Kung Fu, Qi Gong, Tai Chi), hiking, camping, and playing bass with the Nimetones.

I live in Blacksburg, VA with my wife and 5 year-old son.
